Pamela Jane Barrett of Bedford, Texas passed away in the early morning of February 19, 2024, she left our world way too soon, at the age of 70 years old.
Pamela was born on June 23, 1953, in Corpus Christi, Tx, to Jack and Jewel Callahan. They moved to the DFW metroplex in the 60’s where she grew up and attended L.D. Bell. She married Steve Barrett in October of 1969 and moved to Kingsville, TX. While there, she had her two children, Stephen Ray Jr. and Tawnya Mechele. Living the navy life, in 1975, they were transferred to Jacksonville, FL, where they resided for 6 years, enjoying the van club life. In 1981 they transferred to Corpus Christi, TX. This is when her love for the beach and ocean became her way of life for several years. She began working in the real estate industry at Stewart Title company, working on closing documents. In 1984, they made their way back to DFW metroplex to be near her parents. She loved working in the title business. After years of hard work, she worked her way up to a branch managing escrow officer position. After working 35 years in the title business, she retired in 2020. She finally had the time to do some of her favorite things in life. Such as shopping, spending time with her kids, being the best Nana to her grandkids, great grandkids, and all the nieces/nephews. Which were her pride and joy. She loved working in the yard, had the best green thumb for sure, planting and growing flowers, while listening to her favorite music. She will be missed more than words could express, but we know she will always be watching over us.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Jewel Callahan, her sister Barbara Morrow, and her brother John Callahan.
Pamela is survived by her two children, Steve Barrett Jr. and wife Vanessa Barrett, her daughter Tawnya Barrett, father of her children Steve Barrett Sr., and her brother Jimmy Callahan and wife Becky Callahan.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews, and eleven great nieces and nephews. Also, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Pamela’s memorial will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that contributions be made to American Cancer Society.
