Pamella Jones Blakeney, of Woodville, Texas, passed away on October 12, 2024, in Southlake, Texas, at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer. Pam was born in March 1953, in Houston, Texas, to Ruby Gladys and Alvis Allan Jones. She grew up in Pearland, Texas, and attended Pearland High School. Pam married Jerry Shaw on April 21, 1998, and together they shared 26 years of happiness.
Pam always had a heart to help others. She became a registered nurse and served in various positions and capacities over her career. When she wasn’t taking care of her patients, she was taking care of the loves of her life, her animals. Pam had a fierce passion and love for her horses. She bred and raised many with her favorite stallion, Pistol, who was a Tennessee Walking Horse. Pam and Pistol shared a bond that could only be characterized as soulmates. At home, the rest of the animals got the same royal treatment. Whenever a stray dog or cat showed up at her home, they never left without a full belly and a little extra love, and most of the time, they just stayed and she added them to her family.
Besides her love of animals, Pam also had a passion to write. She wrote short stories along with a book she authored about coping with stress. In her later years, she spent a lot of time with her grandkids who affectionately called her Gramms. It was a well-known daily errand to stop and pick up Gramms’ Diet Coke before any tasks were completed for the day. Anyone who knew Pam knew her love for Diet Coke was infinite.
Pam’s other loves included reading, watching TV and movies, Mexican food and BBQ, store-bought birthday cake, supporting veterans and other patriotic causes, and spending time with family and friends.
Pam is survived by her husband and companion Jerry Shaw, her dearly loved daughters Leigh Blakeney Cooper and Angela Blakeney Fraser, and her husband B. David Fraser. Pam also was grandmother to five grandchildren: Sydney, Avery, Marlee, Indiana and Colton. Pam is further survived by her brother and best friend, Robert Jones, and his wife Starla Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents Allan Jones and Ruby Jones.
Pam supported many causes but none were more dear to her than those focused on helping injured veterans. The family invites anyone interested to make a donation in Pam’s honor to the WoundedWarriorProject.org. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the friends of Pam who loved and supported her throughout her life.
