Para Lee Reed, 98, a former Brownwood, TX resident, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at her home in Fort Worth.
Wake: Friday, November 6, 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Williams & Lucas Funeral Chapel, 517 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth 76111.
Services: Saturday, November 7, 11:00 a.m., at Saintsville Cathedral, 2200 Oak Hill Road, Fort Worth 76112, with interment at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Recognized as a Church Mother and addressed as “Mother Reed”, Para was born February 28, 1917 in Hungerford, TX. After being a resident of Brownwood for 55 years while serving those same years at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Mother Reed served faithfully as a Baptist Christian Home Missionary and was also involved in activities pertaining to Brownwood area churches and their efforts to support students in the community at large. Upon moving to the DFW metroplex, Mother Reed was a member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, before retiring permanently to Fort Worth where she immediately became a faithful member of Meadowbrook First Baptist Church until she received the Heavenly call to be with the Lord. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, mentor and friend who lived a life deep in Christian faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Para Lee Reed was preceded in death by her parents, Ned & Phyllis Owens Washington; paternal grandparents, Mary & William Washington; maternal grandparents, Elizabeth & Ned Owens; precious infant daughter, Phyllis Lucille Reed; promising young son, Primus Vandore Reed and beloved daughter-in-law, Jeanette Wilson Reed (Timothy, Sr.)
Survivors: Her daughters and caregivers, Rose Marie Reed, Gloria Reed Austin & husband Jim, granddaughter, Tara C. Reed, Ph.D. and Chris Reed-Brown. She is also survived by sons, Dr. Kelly M. Reed, Jr., and wife, Gloria, Noel L. Reed, Sr. and wife Mattie, and Timothy D. Reed, Sr., as well as 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
