Patricia “Patty” Meier, 76, went peacefully home to the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2023, once again reunited with her beloved husband, Fred Hulan Meier III, who preceded her in death on March 26, 2021. Born Patricia Ann Hill on October 4, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri and preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Vera (Smith) Hill and Clifford Odell Hill.
Patty spent her early life moving around with her parents, sister Donna and brother Cliff. She lived primarily in Missouri, Esslingen Germany, Kansas and Texas before graduating from Irving High school. Patty attended The University of Texas at Austin. She moved to the Dallas area in the 1960s. Patty met her husband of 44 years, Fred, while working as a dispatcher at IBM. They were married in Dallas, Texas on September 18, 1976 and were blessed to welcome their two daughters, Jennifer and Erin. Fred and Patty raised their young family for several years in Dallas before relocating to Tarrant County, Texas. Patty was a devoted wife and homemaker, electing to forego a business career to become a stay-at-home mother, a role which she viewed as an honor and privilege. Patty was very active in their school activities and as a band mom as the girls got older. Patty pursued and appreciated many fine arts and always loved beauty. She was a devoted Christian and active with a variety of church activities throughout her life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bedford.
Patty is survived by her beloved daughters, Jennifer Meier Paladino and husband, David of Michigan and Erin Meier McKenzie of Texas; precious grandchildren, Ethan Paladino, James Paladino, Alison Grace McKenzie, and Bennett McKenzie; brother, Cliff Hill; sister, Donna VanderSchaaf; cousin, Steven Senter of Teague, Texas; multiple extended family members and a host of friends.
The family will receive visitors and friends at Lucas Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 9, 2023 also at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Committal service will follow at 1:15 P.M., at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
