Patsy Ann Chambers

January 18, 1935 — October 23, 2022

Patsy (Pat) Ann Chambers, formerly of Grapevine, Texas, died peacefully on October 23, 2022, at the loving home of her friends and caregivers, Janie and Randy Melton, in Waxahachie, Texas.

Patsy was born on January 18, 1935 in Oklahoma. She and her mother, Iva Ozelle Chambers, lived with her maternal grandparents in Oklahoma until her grandmother's death in 1940. Patsy and her mother moved to Belton, Texas to stay with her Aunt Dove and her five children: Pauline, Ray, Iva, Ann, and Sammie. At age 11, Pat and her mother moved to a boarding house in Fort Worth, Texas. Her mother met and married Thurman Fergason whom she considered as the father in her life. Patsy settled in Grapevine, Texas in 1971.

Patsy was employed by Texas Instruments until she retired in 1991. Patsy also worked for Ben Hogan (Golf Pro) and knew Jack Kirby (the inventor of the microchip). After retiring from TI, she went on to work for Carroll ISD where she also retired. She said many times that she loved seeing the kids come and go.

Patsy loved sports. In her early teens and twenties she traveled and played catcher for a Women’s fast pitch softball team out of Ft. Worth, Texas. During her time at Texas Instruments she put together and coached the first TI Men’s Baseball Team. Patsy enjoyed motorcycles and scooters with her longtime friend Bob Greene. She also enjoyed RV’ing with her friends Virginia, Janette and Angela.

In her later years, Patsy rededicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was re-baptized during that time and Christ changed her life. She loved to listen to Robert Morris, Gateway Church and the Kenneth Copeland ministries. She surrounded herself with Christian devotional books and she was known to pray all night for the people who asked for prayer. She was truly a prayer warrior. Her repeated phrase during her prayers was “… Lord, to glorify you." Until her death, she was a quiet, no-nonsense kind of person, a good listener, and selfless giver.

Patsy is preceded in death by her mother, Iva Ozelle Chambers; her beloved step-fathers, Thurman
Fergason, and Archie Kenneth Sparks; her best friend Virginia Reynolds; first cousins, Pauline Patronelli , Ray Brewster, Iva Williams, and Sammie Moore.
