Paul David Keithley, of North Richland Hills, passed away August 12, 2020. He was born December 15, 1937, to William Jasper Keithley and Rachel Irene (Taylor) Keithley in Ada, Oklahoma.
Paul enlisted in the United States National Guard in 1955 and proudly served his country for eight years while attending East Central State University in Ada.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, Paul began his teaching career in Henderson, Nevada. Coming home to Ada for visits Paul met and fell in love with Jequeta Arter. Paul and Jequeta were married July 24, 1964, and moved to Amarillo, Texas to begin their lives together. Paul continued his education at West Texas A&M University receiving a master's degree. He taught art at Tascosa High School for twenty-five years.
After retirement, Paul and Jequeta returned to Ada and fulfilled their dream of owning a home with acreage outside of town. Paul continued to be involved in the art community, sculpting, gardening, and tending to the wildlife at his “place in the country.” Eventually, Paul and Jequeta moved closer to their children and lived in Aubrey, Texas, and later North Richland Hills, Texas.
Paul was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He remained true to his faith throughout his life. He enjoyed being a member and working in the ministry of several churches including St. Luke Presbyterian in Amarillo, Asbury United Methodist in Ada, and finally, First United Methodist in Aubrey.
He is survived by his wife, Jequeta, of 56 years, daughter, Tammy and husband Gary Klepac of North Richland Hills, daughter, Amy and husband Brent Turner of Colleyville, grandchildren, Grace, Timothy, Melody, Jake, Alyssa and great-granddaughter Dylan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Quinna Tillman.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 17, 2020, 2:00 PM, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.
