Paulene was born Oct. 28, 1914, in Neinda to John and Imogene Hudson, She graduated from Neinda High School and attended Drawn's Business College in Abilene.

Paulene grew up in West Texas, leaving there to go to California, where she helped build airplanes during World War II. She later moved to Fort Worth and continued to help build airplanes at Convair. Paulene was preceded in death by her husband, Morris S. Wight, and 10 brothers and sisters.
