Peggy Sue Morton, a beloved resident of Burleson, Texas gracefully departed this earthly realm on October 6, 2023 at the Community Hospice House at the age of 66. Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Born on November 3, 1956 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Robert A. Weir and Virginia A. Matthiessen Weir. She brought joy and warmth to the lives of those around her. Peggy will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and dedication to her family.
Peggy grew up in San Mateo, CA after her parents relocated there when she was 1 ½ years old. She attended Knolls Elem, Abbot Middle School, and was a 1974 graduate of Hillsdale High School of San Mateo, CA.
Throughout her life, she exemplified strength and perseverance, overcoming the challenges that came her way with grace and determination. Peggy’s loved ones will forever cherish her unwavering love and support.
Peggy lived in Burleson, where she built a life filled with joy and contentment. She created a nurturing home that was always open to friends and family. Her selfless nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Peggy’s warm smile will be deeply missed.
In her spare time, Peggy found solace in scrapbooking. The meticulous care she put into preserving precious memories demonstrated her appreciation for life's fleeting moments. Her scrapbooks are a testament to her artistry and will forever be cherished by those who hold them dear.
Peggy worked at home in crafting with Peggy’s Originals. She was also a Director with Beauty for all Seasons as a Certified Color Consultant.
For ten years, she was a dedicated member of Open Door Church in Burleson, where her compassionate spirit touched the lives of many. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she selflessly offered her support to those in need.
Peggy is survived by a host of extended family members, whose lives were enriched by her presence. The love and memories shared with her will serve as a lasting tribute to a woman who impacted the lives of many.
Survivors include her husband, Donald James Morton; children Mario Robert DeRenzi, Anne Margret (DeRenzi) Van Heusen, daughter in law Deborah Lynn DeRenzi, son in law Keith Van Heusen, Christopher James Morton and wife Tina Lovell Morton, Chad Alan Morton and wife Suzannah Braun Morton.
Grandchildren: Ashlyn Rowlands (24), Sophia DeRenzi (24), Madelyn Carter (23), Maclane Morton (22), Callahan Morton (20), Julianna Rowlands (20), Sadie Rowlands (19), Dylan Rowlands (16), Londynn DeRenzi (11), Alexander Morton (10), Bryce Van Heusen(7).
Great-grandson: Dominic James Kelly, born September 28, 2023.
Siblings: William Weir and wife Carolyn of Los Angeles, CA, Patricia Weir Sagastume of Folsom, CA, Pamela Weir Alfano (deceased) and husband Carl of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Weir Billingsley of Folsom, CA, and Barbara Weir Manino and husband Tony of Granite Bay, CA.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents.
Peggy selflessly and generously donated her body to science with the Willed Body Program at the University of North Texas.
A Celebration of Life to honor Peggy will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 25th at Open Door Church, 301 S. Dobson Street, Burleson, Texas 76028. Family and close friends will gather to pay their respects, sharing stories and reminiscing about the beautiful moments they shared with her. Peggy’s presence will always be felt, even as she begins her journey beyond our reach.
Through her generous spirit and unwavering love, Peggy Sue Morton has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us to love, cherish, and support one another.
