Philip John Hurley

Philip John Hurley, 64, of Colleyville, Texas, passed away suddenly on March 15, 2023. Phil was loved by all that he met. He cherished his wife, daughters, family and friends. His favorite place was Hochatown, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed hanging out in the woods at our cabins or floating around in our boat on the lake. Phil especially found solace in watching the sunsets in St. Pete Beach, Florida, where he had fond memories of growing up and looked forward to his annual trips to the beach.

Phil was a geologist by training and spent his career working for environmental and engineering firms specializing in the oil and gas industry. Phil loved to learn, whether it was geology, archaeology, economics, cars, and much more.

Phil was born on June 24, 1958, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Edwards Hurley. Daughter, Heather Hurley. Daughter and family, Breshell and Conner West, and Remi and Bennett. Sister, Rebecca Greenwood. Nephew and family, Scott Greenwood, and Evangeline and Noelle. Nephew and family, Josh and Tracey Greenwood, and Brooke and Max. Brother-in-law, Chip Cogswell. Niece and family, Katie and Zach Mattern, and Avery and Asher. Niece, Dicentra Skysinger. Phil leaves behind extended family and numerous caring friends.

Phil was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Billie Jo Hurley; his sister, Suzan Cogswell; and brother-in-law, David Greenwood.

A memorial service to honor Phil Hurley, will be held on March 25, 2023, at 10:30 am at CrossCreek Church in Colleyville, Texas.
