Philip Murray “Mike” Mapes
December 26, 1934 – June 11, 2022
The legacy Mike passes on is forbearance and patience. His whole life is a testament to how we all should listen and be patient with each other.....even when wronged. He lived by the phrase “never burn a bridge”. He's had plenty of reasons to burn bridges, but he always mended them as best he could.
A lighter example of his patience was when his granddaughter Megan would routinely sit him down to play house. As if on cue, Megan would point her finger and say, “I'll be right back”, then go into the other room and forget Papa Mike was waiting for her. Yet he patiently sat there and waited.
Mike's ability to connect with friends and family was another high standard he set. No matter where in the country you where, he had the ability to sense and know what was going on in your world better than you or anyone else close by could.
Born Dec 26, 1934 in Three Rivers, Michigan, Phillip Murray “Mike” Mapes was the son of Howard M. Mapes, DDS and Elizabeth Mapes.
