Phillip Earl Troutman passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the morning of February 13, 2022. He was raised in Wichita, Kansas and graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business from Emporia State University. He married Lois Evans in 1965, and they spent most of their 56-year marriage in their adopted hometown of Hobbs, New Mexico, where he opened and managed a stock brokerage firm for a number of years.
He loved going to the Hobbs Public Library, working out at CORE, playing golf, and having daily coffee with his friends. He was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. Last year, he and Lois moved to Keller, Texas near his son’s family. He is survived by his wife Lois; daughter Julie (Rich) Lerudis of Littleton, Colorado; son Brad (Amy) Troutman of Southlake, Texas; grandchildren – Kara Lerudis, Andrew Lerudis, Evan Troutman, and Zach Troutman; as well as cousins Linda and G.W. Wilbur. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Vale Troutman, brother Mike Troutman and cousin Wes Wilbur.
At Phil’s request, there will not be a memorial service. He was very grateful to his family, friends, neighbors, the library staff and customers who supported and enriched his life. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hobbs Public Library, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church of Hobbs, or the charity of your choice.
