Phyllis Irene Dehnke, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024, in Carrollton, Texas at age 96. Born June 17, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, Phyllis lived a life marked by love, hard work, resilience, and dedication to her family. She had fond memories of her childhood with her grandparents who lived in St Joseph Missouri. She moved to the Detroit area and met her husband Norman while working at the Sanders store in downtown Detroit. She embraced her life in Michigan while living and raising her family in Bloomfield Twp and Barton City where she owned a small family restaurant. She then moved to Florida for 30 years and spent her remaining 10 years living in Texas with her daughter Janice.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Norman H. Dehnke, of Pinellas Park, Florida, as well as her son, Jeffrey Dehnke of Detroit, Michigan, and her daughter, Catherine Stutte of Leadville, Colorado. Her passing is mourned by her surviving children: daughters Janice Barnett of The Colony, Texas, and Cynthia Beattie of Bradenton, Florida, as well as sons Norman Dehnke of Harrisville, Michigan, and Timothy Dehnke of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Her extended family included beloved spouses/partners of Gregory Beattie, Karen Dehnke, Renee Dehnke, Bill Stutte and Barbara Porter.
Her legacy lives on through her seven grandchildren, William N Stutte (Shari) David M Manz (Jennifer), Kristina A Sellers (Duane), Jeffrey M Dehnke,
Jennifer Hoffman (James), Ashley DehnkeCroy (Elliot), Jessica Howard (Ben Rush), great-grandchildren Kelsey Anderson (Cain), Sarah Sellers, Quincy Manz, Theodore Rush and Penelope Rosemary DehnkeCroy, and great-great-grandchild Elithia Anderson, each of whom were touched by her warmth and love. Phyllis's family and friends will remember her for her kind spirit, unwavering support, and the joy she brought into their lives.
A private memorial service will be held to honor her memory and celebrate the remarkable life she lived November 8th 2024 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Phyllis's name, reflecting her generous heart and dedication to making a difference in the lives of others, especially veterans. Phyllis donated on a regular basis to the Wounded Warrior foundation.
Phyllis's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
