Phyllis Kay Dohoney Grizzard passed away peacefully in the presence of her family after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday March 24th, 2023, in Burleson, TX. She was born on January 11th, 1947, in Hillsboro, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lucille Dohoney and grandson Logan Owens. Phyllis is survived by her husband, David Grizzard, and his sons, Aaron and David; her daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Billy Jenkins; her daughter Monique Owens; her grandchildren: Billy Shane and wife Jolene Jenkins, Hillary and husband Reese Talley, and Caleb Grizzard; and her great-granddaughter, Addison Talley.
Phyllis loved spending time with her family, playing dominoes, shopping, and doting on her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her many travels all over the United States and abroad, particularly in Ireland, Germany, Korea, France, and Hawaii. She was an avid Elvis fan, and one of her favorite memories was while attending one of his concerts, he sang an entire song to her and kissed her. Phyllis had many cherished friends dating all the way back to high school and was a member of First Baptist Church of Burleson.
Visitation will be at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home in Burleson, TX, on Thursday, March 30th, from 6–8 PM. Phyllis' celebration of life will also be held at Lucas and Blessing on Friday, March 31st, at 3 PM. Interment will follow at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX, on Wednesday, April 5th, at 1:15 PM.
