Rachel Juanita Hammond died peacefully, with family by her side on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. She was 81 years old.
The funeral will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Smithfield. Her husband, Lawrence Hammond, served as pastor at Smithfield many years ago. First Baptist Smithfield is located at 7912 Main St., North Richland Hills, Texas 76182. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lucas Funeral Home of Keller at 1601 S. Main St., Keller, Texas 76248.

Mrs. Hammond was born on May 2, 1939 in Foreman, Arkansas, the eldest of two daughters of Edgar Harrison and Mary Elizabeth Raley. She graduated from Foreman High School and remained friends with several classmates, dating back to first grade. Rachel and her husband were married on April 4, 1958, and had three sons. She was a loving wife and mother, and she enjoyed the simple things in life. Her favorite quote was “little things mean a lot”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Brian Hammond. She is survived by her sons, Daniel and Blake Hammond, her sister, Judith Owen and husband Frank, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
