Ramona Garza Leal

Ramona G. Leal, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away at the age of 74 on August 20, 2024, in her home with her family by her side.

Ramona was born on June 7, 1950, in the small town of Seguin, TX. Shortly after meeting Ben, the two married in 1965 and moved to the DFW area, where they settled down for the next 56 years and watched their family grow.

Ramona was the glue that held the family together. They placed great value on spending time together. As the family expanded, Ramona and Ben cherished moments spent bowling, fishing, and watching their family play soccer. When life moved past the ability to play sports, Ramona enjoyed being with the family, antiquing, and collecting porcelain dolls. During their family gatherings, they rarely missed an opportunity to play volleyball, always with Ramona on the sidelines, laughing, cheering, and supporting her family.

Ramona is preceded in death by her loving husband Ben and survived by their children Ben Jr. (Marisa) Leal, Carolyn (David) Williams, Michael (Maria) Leal, and Cynthia (Jon) Barker, sister Andrea Perez, and brothers Oscar Perez, David Perez, Lucio Perez, and Raul Perez. Ben and Ramona were incredibly proud of the 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren they shared. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, with Rosary prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Lucas Funeral Home located at 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76053. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 29, 2024, also at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst with interment to follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens located at 3001 S. Beltline Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052.
