Randall Clark Shiflet, of North Richland Hills, passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 70. Randy was born on August 27, 1954, in Mineral Wells to Robert and Lorena Shiflet. He was a man of strong character and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His legacy of service, leadership, and kindness will be cherished by those who knew him.
Randy served for 20 years as an officer in the North Richland Hills Police Department, earning the rank of Assistant Chief and the respect of his colleagues and the community. His commitment to making his city a safe place for all was evident in every aspect of his career. After retiring from the force, Randy continued to serve his community as Deputy City Manager for North Richland Hills. His many, many accomplishments included the construction of park facilities, the North Richland Hills Library, and the construction of NRH2O, which have been enjoyed by families from across North Texas.
In addition to his professional achievements, Randy was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Shiflet, with whom he shared 10 wonderful years of marriage. He was the proud father of two sons, Ryan and Russell, whose accomplishments and well-being were always his greatest joy. He was also a loving grandfather to 7 grandchildren who called him Grandy. Randy's deep love for his family and his pride in their lives was clear to all who knew him.
Randy passed peacefully in his home after a two-year battle with cancer, and is survived by his sister, Vera Stillwell, and his brother, Robert Shiflet, along with many extended family members, friends, and colleagues.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas. A burial will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas, at 2:30 PM.
Randy Shiflet’s life was one of service, compassion, and love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of community service will be enjoyed by all for decades to come, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
