Randolph “Randy” Patrick Bayer, 87, of Keller, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at home of Heart Failure.
Randy was born on July 1, 1934 in Muenster, Texas to Romana and Frank Bayer. He was one of the first two Eagle Scouts in Muenster. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, where he was the editor of the school paper. On August 17, 1954 in Muenster, Randy married Marilyn Miller and they lived in Muenster, Gainesville, Grapevine, and Keller, Texas. The majority of his life Randy was an outdoor salesman for custom home building materials. He was awarded the Ad Altare Dei award from the Catholic Scouting Committee and he loved yard work and to play horseshoes, softball, square dance, and playing cards with friends and family. He was part of the Knights of Columbus and he was a head usher at St. Francis Catholic Church for many years. He also had a great sense of humor, he loved to tease the kids and grandkids, and give them special nicknames, and his daughters lovingly nicknamed him “Old Fart”.
Randy is survived by his wife, Marilyn Bayer; daughters, Cheryl and Whitey Lawrence (Springtown, Texas), Diane and Dwayne Koehler (Grapevine, Texas), and Leigh and Doug Walterscheid (Grapevine, Texas); grandchildren, Justin Caldwell (Bedford, Texas), Stacy O’Steen & Matt (Fort Worth), Mike Miller & Karla (Grapevine, Texas), Traci Bartkus & Zachary (Odessa, Texas), Chris Walterscheid & Rachel (Fort Worth, Texas), Kyle Koehler (Grapevine, Texas), and Shannon Koehler (Grapevine, Texas); first great grandchild arriving in January; brother, Regi Bayer and spouse, Patsy Bayer (Muenster, Texas), and Ann Bayer (Valley View, Texas); special family friends, Davy & Brandie Wolf and Family; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by children, Debbie Bayer and Gerald Bayer (infants); brothers, Gerald Bayer and James Bayer.
Rev. Sojan George will be officiating.
A reception will follow after interment at St. Francis Catholic Church, Thursday, December 9, 2021.
