Raul Guerra Ortiz Jr.

Raul Ortiz Jr, age 84, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2025.

He was born on April 2, 1940 to his loving parents Raul Falcon Ortiz and Josefina Ortiz in Uvalde, Texas. As a young man, he attended Uvalde High School and then later on attended numerous universities to further his educational pursuits. Raul attended the University of Corpus Christi, Mexican Bible Institute, and Houston Baptist University.

Raul met the love of his life, Maria Alicia, and married her on December 30, 1960 at the First Mexican Baptist Church in Uvalde, Texas. They celebrated a loving and faith filled marriage for nearly 65 years.

With his determination and love of God, he became a faithful pastor and served multiple communities throughout the southwestern United States for over 59 years. Many of his preaching journeys took him to Primera Iglesia de Nueva Vida in Pearsall, Texas; Iglesia Bautista Gethsemani in Eagle Lake, Texas; Iglesia Bautista Calvario in Sweetwater, Texas; Primera Iglesia in Beeville, TX; Internacional de la Comunidad in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Primera Iglesia Bautista in Keller, Texas.

Besides being a pastor and a leader of his church communities, Raul had many hobbies that gave him a lot of joy. He enjoyed reading about American history, and watching Western movies. He was a huge sports fan, and was a proud supporter of Sweetwater Mustang Football, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, the Texas Longhorns football and baseball.

Raul is preceded in death by both of his parents, Raul and Josefina.

He leaves behind many loved ones, especially his wife, Maria Alicia Ortiz; his sons Steve, Timothy, and John Mark Ortiz; his siblings Zoila Zamora, Terry, Arriola, Anabelle Saiz, Pablo Ortiz, and Pura Ortiz; his grandchildren Aaron, Jordan (Cindy), Melanie (Justin), and Drew (April); and great-grandchildren Ethan Litvin and Bennett Litvin.
