Becky Albin was born in Houston, Texas to Vernon and Sylvia Linton. She graduated from this world and entered the Lord’s presence February 17, 2023.
The family moved to Eureka, Kansas and then to Oklahoma City, where they lived for about ten years. Becky was blessed with a baby brother, Ben, a month before her seventh birthday. Becky trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation when she was eight years old.
When Vernon was recalled to active duty with the Navy, the family moved to the Detroit, Michigan area, where Becky graduated from Grosse Ile High School. She then returned to Oklahoma and attended Central State University (now UCO) in Edmond, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
After graduation Becky rejoined her family in Coronado, California where her dad was stationed with the Navy. There she was introduced to a young sailor from Texas. How that introduction took place is a longer story of a possible conspiracy of matchmakers, but it was the beginning of a love story that would last almost five decades.
Becky married John Albin at Grace Chapel in Lubbock, Texas on June 14, 1975. John and Becky were blessed with three children, Sarah, Amy, and Scott, who, along with their spouses, Todd, Andy, and Denae, provided John and Becky with ten beautiful grandchildren, one of whom is already in Heaven.
In addition to being a wife and mother, Becky also had a 28-year career as a first-grade and kindergarten teacher. She earned a Master of Education degree at Texas Tech University, and she taught in the Sweetwater, El Paso Ysleta, Ralls, Lubbock, Highland Park Amarillo, Lubbock Cooper, and Morton school districts.
During John’s frequent travels with the Army Reserve, including Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Becky carried on, single-handedly raising their children while teaching full time. When John’s battalion was deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Becky served as the leader of the family support group, coordinating meetings and providing moral support to families of deployed soldiers.
Becky is survived by her husband John, two daughters, Sarah Konkel and husband Todd, and Amy Nickel and husband Andy, and one son, Scott Albin and wife Denae, nine grandchildren: Zachary, Nathaniel, and Jacob Konkel, Moriah, Caleb, and Charis Nickel, and Joshua, Kara, and Hudson Albin. Also surviving are one brother, Ben Linton and wife Kit, one brother-in-law, Les Albin and wife Monta Kay, an uncle, Tom Linton and wife Sandra, four nieces, Susan Gann (John), Kim Albin, April Linton (Billy), and Rachel Linton (Jen), one great-niece, Ani Albin, and four cousins, Kathy Ryan, Kenneth Lockard (Virginia), Andrew Linton (Karen), and Douglas Linton (Eva).
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Sylvia Linton, a grandson, Jeremiah Nickel, an aunt Goldie Lockard, and one great-nephew, Max Gann.
