Rebecca Ann Dunbar, 82, of Burleson, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, March 5 at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Becky was born September 30, 1938 in Ocracoke, North Carolina to L.G. Lewis and Thelma Howard. She grew up in Newport, North Carolina. She received an associate’s degree and later went on to get her real estate license. She was a special education teacher in Grapevine, was on the board of the Circle of Friends from Burleson and organized all their trips. She also organized donation campaigns both monetary donations and household items for Crazy 8 Ministries, a ministry to help get people back on their feet. She was an avid mahjong player and loved cooking. Becky loved gardening, crafting, and decorating and redecorating her house. She was the absolute best mom, wife, grandma, and great-grandma in the world.
She married James Dunbar in 1974 in Durante, Oklahoma and they were happily married for 47 years.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents L.G. Lewis and Thelma Howard.
She is survived by her husband, James; daughters, Kathy Miner and husband, Norman, Cheryl Jackson, and Susan Lockard and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Jason Castillo, Candice Stewart and husband, Jason, Jessica Simpson and husband, Jake, April Eaker and husband, Travis, Kelly Miner, and Brooks Lockard; and great-grandchildren, Jesse Ray, Isaac and Luke Castillo, Skylar Price and husband, Hunter, Cylie Deno and husband, Wyatt; Carter Miner, Jackson and Avery Eaker.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Huguley Hospital and Cancer Center, One Point Hospice, Circle of Friends from Burleson, and friends and family for their loving care.
