Survivors: Parents, John and Copper; sister, Reynolds; paternal grandfather, John Richard Comita, Sr.; maternal grandfather, Dr. Terry Reynolds Allen and his wife, Suzanne Smith Allen; and maternal grandmother, Kathleen Reid Scott. Reid is also survived by a host of aunts and uncles on both sides of his family and 19 cousins. His smile and hearty laugh will be missed most. The thing we remember about Reid was his unconditional love for his sister and parents as well as people of all colors, races, sexual orientation and religions. Reid was a friend to all.
While at Central High School, in 9th grade, Reid was a member of the Junior Varsity Show Choir, “Voltage.” He took many Pre AP classes with a GPA of 3.6. He took great pleasure in correcting his sister’s college papers with the program “Grammarly.” He could often be found in his room teaching himself Sign Language, hieroglyphs and experimenting with different music styles on the computer. He was saving his money for an electronic piano keyboard so he could teach himself how to play. Reid had expressed an interest in pursuing a career where he could teach music and singing. When Reid wasn’t eating or studying, he could be heard filling the home with his beautiful voice. He had just been accepted to the Men’s Select Choir and the Varsity Show Choir, “Voices of Central.”
Reid was a Brotherhood member in the Okai Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America: Order of the Arrow. Reid was in Cub/Boy Scouts since first grade and was working on his last mandatory Merit Badge, the Camping Merit Badge, when he passed away while hiking. Reid was a member of Troop 205 at Alliance United Methodist Church and Troop 336 at Heritage Church of Christ. His Eagle Scout Project had been approved. He was planning to build a playhouse and landscape the area for The Gatehouse, a home for women and children in crisis, in Grapevine, TX. In Reid’s honor, his project will be completed by several members of the North Texas Scouting Community and close friends.
Reid was getting ready to take driving lessons and he loved the color orange, cheese pizza, Chick-Fil-A and Lily the family dog. He was attending Christian Education Classes at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in preparation of his Confirmation.
John, Copper and Reynolds wish to express their heartfelt appreciation for all the love and support. It is deeply felt. Reid’s grandparents and family and friends in Fort Worth, Texas, Thomasville, Georgia, Nashville, Tennessee, the Boston, Massachusetts area and around the country have also received in many ways an outpouring of kindness and generosity.
Reid was very involved with his Boy Scout Troop 336 and The Voices of Central Show Choir. In his honor, the family would greatly appreciate that donations be made to benefit these two groups he loved at the following website:

Reid would be honored to know that a child was able to go to summer camp or participate in show choir.
