Renée Suzanne Lovenburg of Southlake, Texas passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Memorial Day, May 25th, 2020. She is survived by her husband John and children, Emily, 22 and Eric, 18.
Renée was born in Bellevue, Washington on August 11th, 1966. Her siblings are Mary, Josi and Ted. Her parents, Ted and Rita, were Dutch immigrants. Renée graduated from the University of Washington in 1991 with a Bachelors degree in political science.
Renée’s childhood was spent in Issaquah, Washington. After college, she briefly worked in Alaska, then moved to California where she lived through 2011. She lived in Southlake, Texas from 2012 until her passing in 2020.
Renée and John met at work at CH2M HILL in 1993, started dating, and quickly fell in love. They married on June 29, 1996. They lived in a condominium in Newport Beach with their daughter Emily. Then they moved into a house in Mission Viejo shortly before Eric was born. Renée and John built life-long friends who were also raising their children in Mission Viejo.
Renée and John moved to Southlake, Texas on January 1, 2012 after John took a job at BNSF Railway. The family adapted to life, finding friends and their own niches. In recent years, Renee enjoyed visiting Emily in Dallas at SMU, attending Eric’s plays and rock band events, and catching sporting events and visiting breweries with John.
The family enjoyed many outdoor and cultural travel adventures through the years. Early travel was dominated by camping on the California coast, mountains and desert; Joshua Tree and Yosemite were 2 of Renée’s favorites. Family members enjoyed various outdoor sports including hiking, biking, surfing, and snow skiing. With kids, travel expanded to Washington, Hawaii, Mexico, the Netherlands, Canada, and Central Europe.
Renée took great joy in raising her children. She was a caring and nurturing mother, letting the kids find their own way, but having a keen sense when there was guidance or support needed. Renée was quick to smile and laugh, with a good sense of humor. Renée often discussed local and world events with John, but usually only after 2 cups of coffee.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation to the American Heart Association.
