Richard Christopher Behney

November 1, 1977 — February 10, 2023

Richard Christpher Behney, “Chris,” resident of Benbrook, Texas, formerly of Burleson, Texas, passed away on February 10, 2023, at his home at the age of 45 years. Chris was born in Abilene, Texas, the first of three boys. The Behney family moved to Burleson when Chris was 10, and in his grade school days, Chris participated in many activities, including trying his hand at the trombone in middle school band. It was the electric guitar that captured his musical imagination however, and it was athletics that held the most interest for him at school. He played football, basketball, and baseball, the latter of which he showed the greatest effort and aptitude.

After graduating from Burleson High School in 1997, Chris made his way to the University of Texas in Arlington, where he studied Photography and Business. Shortly after his tenure at UTA, Chris shifted his focus to the automotive field and graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute with honors, a number of accolades, and a resume full of ASE certifications. After a detour into motorcycles as Parts Associate at Longhorn Harley Davidson and technician for Victory motorcycles, Chris established his career in the automotive industry, gaining experience as an estimator and advisor through positions with Service King, Caliber Collision, and Park Place BodyWerks. Married in 2008, Chris settled in Benbrook and later welcomed two little Behney boys of his own in 2015 and 2017.

Life was full of the wonderful and mundane, as Chris worked steadfastly to provide for his family, allowing for his wife to be a stay-at-home-mom to his boys. He carefully curated a significant collection of cigars, lovingly restored a 1996 Harley Davidson Sportster, and happily fussed over a front and back yard lush with St. Augustine grass. As an active member of the Ridglea Masonic Lodge 1341, Chris achieved the highest rank of Worshipful Master within only a few short years of becoming a Master Mason.

An easy-going Sunday and an afternoon meal at Mi Cocina with his family were things Chris looked forward to. Watching his sons play on the grass or ride bikes were moments he cherished most. The times his brilliant blue eyes were lit with happiness and his laughter free, are the cherished moments we will hold onto forevermore.

Chris is survived by his children, Trenton Roy (7) and Wesley Brian (5), his wife of 14 years, Valerie, father Richard Roy Behney and wife Melissa, and younger brothers Dustin, Jeff, and Dalton Behney.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Doni Behney, as well as maternal and paternal grandparents.

A memorial for Chris will take place on Saturday, February 18, at 1PM at the Masonic Temple Library and Museum, 1100 Henderson Street, Fort Worth, Texas, 76102.
