Richard Clarence Blais was born on December 16, 1942 in Southbridge, Massachusetts to the late Teresa (Mongeau) Blais and Clarence Adolf Blais. He passed away peacefully at his home at Atria at Hometown on December 29, 2022 at the age of 80 years old.
Richard was a Catholic devoted to his faith beginning as an altar server as a child. In his youth, he loved to spend the summers at the family lake house. After meeting on a blind date, Richard married his beloved wife, Rhea Letourneau on June 25, 1966 in North Brookfield, Massachusetts.
He served our country and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of committed service. He received a BA from Eastern Illinois University and his MBA from Golden Gate University. He worked for McDonnell/Douglas and then Boeing from 1984 until his retirement in 2006.
The family had many moves during his many years in the Air Force but the family settled in Florissant, Missouri after retirement in 1984, but he moved to the DFW area to be closer to family in May 2020. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1962. He was an avid golfer and was once a baseball umpire and football referee. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and loved a good dirty martini. He made the best pizza in the world. He was also a dog lover and would take care of his grand-dogs while his children traveled. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 56 years, Rhea A. Blais of North Richland Hills, Texas; son, Richard C. Blais, Jr. and wife Janine of St. Charles, Missouri; daughter, Jen Epperley and husband, Paul of North Richland Hills, Texas; grandchild, Eric Blais and wife, Abbey of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brother, Robert A. Blais and sister, Lucille Lafleche both of Southbridge, Massachusetts.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 13, 2023 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church located at 7341 Glenview Drive, North Richland Hills, Texas 76180 with Father Jack McKone presiding. Committal service with full Air Force honors will be held at 3:15 P.M., Friday, January 13, 2023 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas.
