Richard James Cobos

June 27, 1961 — July 19, 2023

Richard James Cobos, 62, of Keller, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2023.

Richard Cobos was born in Woodland, California, to Frank and Florence Cobos on June 27th, 1961. He was the second youngest of 6 children. Richard spent his childhood with his siblings, exploring the outdoors and enjoying the beautiful nature that Northern California had to offer.

At 32, Richard joined a company for which he would work for the remainder of his happy life. During this time, he met and married the mother of his children, developed lifelong friendships, and moved around the country before settling in Keller, Texas, where he raised his 2 children, Josh and Tianna.

To him, being a father was not just a title but a testament to love beyond measure. As a husband, he was more than a partner, he was a companion in every sense. As a brother, he was more than a sibling, he was an ally, sharing a bond shaped by both birth and choice. As an uncle, he served as a role model, blending the firmness of a mentor with the warmth of a friend. His roles did not end within the confines of family. To many, he was a guiding coach, a mentor, a leader, and a unifier.

Even with adult children, his fatherly instinct never subsided. He became a dog dad to two very needy Olde English Bulldogges, Boss and Lana. Richard carried his passion for the great outdoors from childhood into his adult life. In his free time, he avidly enjoyed fishing, golfing, and was sure to never miss a daily walk with his puppies.

Richard Cobos is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence Cobos, his aunt, Susan Miranda, and his nephew, Rudy Marquez Jr.

Richard is survived by his two children, Josh Cobos and Tianna Cobos, their mother, Sandra, his two dogs, Lana and Boss the Bulldog, his 5 siblings, JoAnn Castaneda, Frances Reysack, Frank Cobos, Elizabeth Cobos, and Lori Marquez, and by his nieces & nephews, Leah Proctor, Andy Reysack, Kellie Reysack, John Cobos, Susan Cobos, Manuel Murillo, Isaac Marquez, Jennie Rendon, Frank Cobos Jr., Vicky Cobos-Royal, Joey Castaneda, Mandy Martinez, and Carissa Castaneda.

Richard’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26th, from 6-8pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas. His final resting place will be in California, alongside his parents at Monument Hill Memorial Park.

As a tribute to his memory, we kindly request donations of flowers to celebrate his love for the natural world.
