Emblem

Born on February 20, 1938, in Gilman, Colorado to loving parents Olive Marie (Houck) and Richard Michael Cryan, Mr. Richard Adam Cryan dedicated his life to service and integrity. He enlisted in the Navy Reserves on October 30, 1961, and his commitment was unwavering until his discharge on June 10, 1971, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. His service took him to Antarctica and made him a vital part of the Hurricane Hunters.

Mr. Cryan was a proud graduate of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. On January 30, 1965, he married the love of his life, Betty Cryan, and together they shared a life filled with love and devotion. Mr. Cryan was a dedicated member of his community, sharing his voice in the church choir for many years and finding joy in playing bridge.

In his final days, on September 3, 2024, surrounded by his family, Mr. Cryan passed away peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas, where he had made his home. He is survived by his son, Kevin Cryan, and his wife Jodi, of Fort Worth, Texas; his daughter, Kerri Cryan, of Lewisville, Texas; and his beloved grandchildren, Brenna Cryan and Brandon Cryan of Fort Worth, Texas, and Breelynn Cryan of Denton, Texas. Mr. Cryan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Cryan and his sister Jeanne Elbert.

Mr. Cryan will be forever remembered for his dedication, humility, and kindness. In honor of his memory, a graveside service with military honors will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on September 27, 2024, at 3:15 pm. The ceremony will be a fitting tribute to a man whose life was defined by service, love, and respect.

In tribute to his spirited legacy, the family asks for donations to be made to the National Alzheimer's Association (ALZ.org) on his behalf instead of sending flowers.
