Richard Brett Goforth, known to his loved ones as Brett, passed away on October 1, 2023, at the age of 58. Born on August 14, 1965, in Houston, Texas, Brett lived a life filled with love and laughter.
After graduating from high school in 1983, Brett proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1988 to 1992. He spent time stationed in Germany and courageously served in the Gulf War as a multiple launch rocket system crewmember. Acknowledging his bravery, Brett was honored with a Southwest Asia Service Medal and a Bronze Service Star, reflecting his dedication to his country.
Following his military service, Brett began working for the General Services Administration in 1993 as a Materials Handler, and later, a Supply Specialist-a role that further showcased his commitment and professionalism. Throughout his career, Brett was known for his reliability and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
However, Brett's true spirit shone through in his interactions with others. With a heart that knew no boundaries, Brett never met a stranger. He possessed an innate ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him, brightening their lives with his infectious personality. His acts of kindness, generosity, and genuine care were unmatched, making him a cherished friend and a beloved member of his community.
In his free time, Brett enjoyed two passions: fishing and playing darts. Whether casting his line into the still waters of a nearby lake or engaging in friendly competitive matches at the local pub, these hobbies brought him immense joy and created lasting memories.
Brett was a dedicated and loving son to his mother, Tommie Works, who survives him, along with his beloved son, Rhett Goforth. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extensive network of Army comrades and dart enthusiasts, all of whom were touched by his unwavering friendship and genuine compassion.
With heavy hearts, Brett's family and friends will come together to mourn his passing and celebrate the incredible life he lived. A Memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 18,2023 at two o'clock in the afternoon, providing an opportunity for all who loved Brett to come together, share stories, and find solace in each other's company.
Brett will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a beacon of light in a world that often needs an extra dose of kindness. In his memory, may we carry on his legacy of selflessness and love towards one another. Rest in peace, dear Brett.
