Richard Keith Larson

RICHARD KEITH LARSON passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, October 14, 2019.

Rick was born at the Wittenberg Hospital in Williston, North Dakota, on December 31, 1924, the son of Myrus Benjamin and Revel Rhae (Worley) Larson.

As a child he lived in Montana and attended public schools in Homestead, Scobey, Wibaux and Wolf Point. He graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, with a degree in Construction Engineering.

He served honorably in the United States Army as a medical corpsman (Sgt) from July 1943 to March 1946.

He was married to Susan Frances Olive (Croteau) on March 19, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, a union that lasted for 47 years, until Susan’s death.

Together with his immediate family, Rick lived, and worked as a Construction Engineer, for extended periods of time in the Territory of Alaska, Libya, and Turkey, as well as numerous locations in the United States, with many happy years spent in the San Francisco, CA Bay Area. While working overseas, he and his family travelled throughout Europe and the Mediterranean.

In retirement, Rick especially enjoyed “excellent adventures” with his grandchildren, teaching adult literacy skills, volunteering at Bass Performance Hall, participating in the Cow Town Marathon, where he took 3rd place for his age group (1999), attending a support group for Alzheimer’s caregivers and exploring his ancestry.

He was a proud member of MENSA, lifetime member of BPO Elks and a charter member of the Wibaux (MT) Historical Society.

He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, a sister, Mary Adair Larson, two brothers, James Worley Larson and Myrus Baxter Larson and by special sisters-in-law, Camilla Patricia (Dahl) Larson and Ella Rita (Croteau) Zakariasen. He was also predeceased by a very special nephew, Myrus Baxter Larson, Jr., as well as many cherished friends.

He is survived by his 2 daughters, who were the light of his life, Susan Gretta (Larson) Hoss and Katie (Larson) King, a beloved son-in-law, Frank Daniel Hoss, Jr., five dearly loved grandchildren including, Christopher Myrus Hoss, Peter Hoss, Angelina Alene Hoss, Jakob Richard Hoss and Nicole Marie King. In addition to, two adorable great-granddaughters, Ryleigh Ilizabeth Clark and Emma Susan King, special nieces, Lynne (Zakariasen) Duigou and Gail (Zakariasen) Blue, several nephews and cousins.

A service will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church at 11:00 am. 223 S. Pearson Lane, Keller, TX 76248. A reception will follow the service.
