Rick Edward Vail

Richland Hills, TX - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle, Rick Edward Vail. Rick passed at the age of 67 on Thursday, March 7, 2024. He will be dearly missed.

Rick was born on April 3, 1956 in Wichita, KS to Maurice and Loretta Vail. When he was 12 years old, he relocated along with his parents and siblings, Kevin and Lorice to Everman, TX.

In his junior year at Everman High School, where he subsequently graduated in 1975, Rick began a work-study internship as a painter, wallpaper, and dry-wall installer. Rick worked hard and became quite the expert, taking a great deal of pride in his craft. Rick was able to share his talents in wonderful places like Puerto Rico, though in the final years of his career, he, like his father, worked at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX doing what he loved.

Rick was well loved by his friends and family, and was ever-present in their lives. He was known for his great cooking skills and his sense of humor. He was a quiet, stoic man with the same mischievous giggle as his father. He had a servant’s heart, never wanting to cause a ruckus, and always put his family first.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, H. Maurice Vail of Richland Hills.

He is survived by his mother, Loretta Vail of Richland Hills, Texas; siblings, Kevin Vail of Richland Hills, Texas and Lorice (David) Watson of Fort Worth, Texas; Nieces, Michelle Vail, Kelli Tylenda, Christie (Matt) Ratliff, Loretta (Kevin) Moerbe, Jackie South, Jen (Marcus) Allen; and great-nieces and nephews, Karissa (Garrett), Natalie, Madeline, Christian, Jackson, Benjamin, Hayden, Landon, Whitten, and Dutton.

There will be a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a community charity of your choice. It was always very important to Rick that those less fortunate were taken care of, and this would be a wonderful way to honor his memory.
