Ricky Gene Baker, Jr.

May 1, 1981 — December 21, 2022

Ricky Gene Baker Jr., age 41, passed away December 21, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born May 1, 1981 in Marietta, Oklahoma. Growing up, Ricky had a mischievous grin and was a typical boy, with at least yearly injuries from his many adventures. He graduated from Lone Grove High School.

Ricky proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class most memorably on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. A sense of patriotism remained a passion throughout his life.

He married the love of his life, Kristin T. Johnson, on July 13, 2013 in an epic whirlwind ceremony in Mexico followed by receptions in Oklahoma, Washington and North Carolina to celebrate with the many excited family members. They were overjoyed to welcome their daughter Lillian and son James to their family. Ricky is also a father to Baby Baker #3 who he is now holding in his arms in Heaven, and a beautiful rainbow baby, Eleanor. Ricky was the kind of father who was always one-hundred percent involved. From changing diapers, to being in the front row of every performance and sporting event, his children were the delight of his life.

Ricky was always seeking to grow his skills and better himself and obtained his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Management and Leadership while working full-time and growing his family.

He had a passion for cooking for others and had the ability to make a gourmet meal out of anything that was available. He enjoyed making people laugh, always ready with a joke in any situation (even the serious ones). He made it a priority to explore the world including visiting more than 20 countries with his children as young as one year old. He was working on obtaining his pilots license and loved the peacefulness of flying the skies. He loved children and was thrilled to help coach baseball for young players. Ricky had a joy and exuberance for life that was contagious.

He was a VFW Service Officer and had a heart for helping all veterans. He had a passion for helping others in any type of need, stopping numerous times to render aid when he saw someone in distress.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Kristin Baker; children, Lillian, James and Eleanor; parents, Minnie and Darrell Patton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barry and Pamela Johnson; grandfather, Melvin Welcher; siblings, Emily Bruster and her husband, Matthew, Daniel Patton, Mary Mote and her husband, Chris, Tamra Ueligger and her husband, Tony; siblings-in-law, Lauren Johnson and her husband, Mike Bromley, Samuel Johnson and his wife, Arianna, and Ami Pekrul and her husband, Zane; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Baker and his father, Ricky Gene Baker Sr.
Ricky’s life ended too quickly for those of us left behind, but he truly did it all. He could not have packed more into his life if he had tried. He was a good and faithful servant.
