Rita Ann Williams Wall Morgan, 78, was set free on March 17, 2023 in the comfort of her family home with her daughter at her side.
Rita was welcomed into the world on January 14, 1945 by her parents, A.K. and Laverne Williams with her older sister, Glenda.
She graduated from Everman High School Class of 1963 and went on to work as a banker where she developed a memorable interest in coins, especially the uncirculated. After, she adventured to New York City with her best friend where she lived and worked in a hotel.
Rita married Michael Wall on March 6, 1965 and raised one daughter, Michele. Although they later divorced, she loved him and his family very much and always considered herself a Wall. In her final days, Michael’s brother and sister both visited.
At 50 years old she returned to college to follow her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from Tarrant County Junior College in the spring of 1998 as a Registered Nurse. She worked the night shift at Arlington Memorial Hospital until she retired. Her education truly allowed her to fully care for her mother, our Grandmother. Both her daughter and granddaughter followed in her footsteps, also becoming nurses, which is a legacy she was exceptionally proud of.
Rita was fun, energetic, sassy and absolutely a night owl. She loved movies, keeping up with celebrities, food, cooking and going out to eat. Also, coffee with “just enough cream for a little color”. Above all else, she loved and supported her daughter and family in everything. She is always Mom and Granny Rita, or lovingly, Grita.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents A.K. and Laverne Williams, ex-husband Michael Wall, brother-in-law William “Bill” Sparks, nephew Michael Sparks and great-granddaughter Morgan.
She leaves behind her daughter, Michele Rodgers (Clark Norton); three grandchildren, Christina Keils, Charles Rodgers (Amanda Rodgers), Timothy Rodgers (Sara Rodgers); five great-grandchildren, Haley, Jason, Jack, Evelyn and Wyatt; sister Glenda Sparks; and nephews Kyneth Sparks and John Sparks.
