Colonel Robert Barnes Brewster was a native of Bluefield, Virginia, born to loving parents Betty (Ratliff) and Edwin Brewster May 14th, 1947. Colonel Brewster passed on May 2nd, 2024 in Southlake, Texas comforted by his loving wife.

Colonel Brewster was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. Having served four years enlisted, he received his commission in 1975 through Officer Training School. After several tours as a Weapons Controller, he was selected for Undergraduate Pilot Training, and was awarded his pilot wings in November 1979.

His first operational tour was the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing, Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, flying the F-111. After that he was assigned to the 431st Test and Evaluation Squadron at McClellan AFB, California serving as a test project officer in Operational Text and Evaluation and weapons testing for the F-111.

In January 1988 Colonel Brewster attended the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia. After graduation, he was assigned to the U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii, where he served in a variety of billets. In 1991 he returned to flying in the F-111 at Cannon AFB, New Mexico. There he served in many positions, including Operations Officer in the 428th Fighter Squadron “Buccaneers” and Commander of the 523rd Fighter Squadron “Crusaders”.

In 1997 Colonel Brewster was assigned to Yongsan Republic of Korea to serve as Deputy, Chief Exercise Division at U.S. Forces, Korea. After that he returned to Cannon AFB, New Mexico for one year as the Inspector General. In 1999 he was assigned to the U.S. Pacific Command serving in various positions in the J3 Directorate. In December 2001 Colonel Brewster reported for duty to NAS Pensacola as the Air Force Liaison to Chief of Naval Education and Training. He retired from the Air Force as a Command Pilot with over 3300 flying hours.

Colonel Brewster was married to the love of his life, the former Linda Fenzel of Baltimore, Maryland. They have two sons, Derek and Adam. He loved his family deeply and appreciated their support of his military career throughout his life. Colonel Brewster also loved to golf.

Colonel Brewster is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Edwin Brewster.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Fenzel) Brewster; his siblings Edwin Blair Brewster Jr. and his wife Margaret, and Katheryn Brewster Wolford and her husband Robert; his sons, Derek Brewster and his wife Jennifer, and Adam Brewster and his wife Stacey; and his beloved grandchildren, Clara, Harper, Owen, and Charlotte Brewster; his nieces, Valerie Shrader and husband Todd, Jennifer Wolford Phillips and husband Adam, and his nephews, Todd Brewster and wife Leigh Ann, and Ted Brewster and wife Sherry.

A funeral service will be held for Colonel Robert Brewster on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 at 10:00am at Lucas Funeral Home located in Keller, Texas. A committal service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 at 1:00pm where full military honors will be rendered.
