Robert Herbert Cannon, 89, of Burleson passed away on June 27, 2019.
Funeral Services: 10:00 am Friday at Lane Prairie Baptist Church in Joshua. Interment: Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home.
Robert was born on July 18, 1929 in Bulcher, TX to Olen Warren Cannon and Eva Delona Cannon. He grew up in Cooke County and attended Saint Jo School in Saint Jo, TX finishing the 8th grade. After high school he joined the Navy in 1950 and served four years. Robert served in the Korean War and was discharged with honors on October 4, 1954. He began work for General Steel as a Steel Fabricator where he worked for over 20 years. He retired in 1995 after 41 years in the steel industry and the completion of his last job site, the Texas Ranger Stadium.
Robert married Verna Mae Faulk on July 15, 1956. They were happily married for 13 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins and reading. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae on December 5, 1969; parents, Olen Warren and Eva Delona Cannon; sister, Oma Ruth Rice, Joe Rich of Piedmont, MO; brothers, Olen Warren, Jr., and Helen Cannon of Itasca, TX, John Harold Cannon and Elizabeth Cannon of Saint, Jo, TX, Teddy Harland Cannon of Fort Worth, TX, Bruce Haven Cannon, of Phoenix, AZ.
Survivors: Daughters, Susan Lamle and husband, Curtis of Arlington, TX, Debra Cannon of Glenwood Springs, CO; grandchildren, Delvin Cagle III of Lehi, UT, Colton Cagle of Arlington, TX; great-grandchildren, Layla B. Cagle, Noah D. Cagle and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
