Robert Eugene “Gene” Faris, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 51.
Gene was born October 30, 1972, to Robert and Brenda (Bush) Faris. Raised in Georgetown, Texas. Gene was a 1991 graduate of Georgetown High School where he proudly played Eagle Baseball. Gene went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Business Degree at Southwest Texas State University in 1997.
Throughout his life Gene explored a variety of careers across the state of Texas; he worked at InfoLabs in
Round Rock and Corpus Christi, as well as Reed’s Cabinet Co. and Affiliated Foods in Amarillo. Gene worked for Standard Meat and then spent the final 10 years of his career as a Control Specialist at Frito Lay in Irving.
It was during his time in Amarillo that Gene met Jessica Slaybaugh and completed his family when they married on April 4, 2008. Gene dearly loved his wife and three children. He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors with them while camping, fishing and four wheeling out at the family ranch. You would often find Gene on his days off behind a smoker or the grill cooking for his family and friends.
Gene is survived by his wife, Jessica, and three children, McKenzie, Madison, and Caden; brother Will Faris (Tiffany); sisters Ashleigh Faris (Jonathan) and Katie Teague (Landon); stepmother Paula Faris; uncles L.T. Faris (Lea) and Hal B Faris (Lisa) and aunt Edith Armes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Brenda Faris, and grandparents, Tanner and Mildred Faris and S.B. and Vita Mae Strong.
