Robert (Gene) Ferguson was born on October 31, 1944, in Tahoka, Texas to Robert and Gertrude Ferguson and passed away on November 26th, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Gene enlisted in the Navy in October 1962 and was honorably discharged in March 1966.
Gene married his high school sweetheart Sandra (Buddy) Dunagan on June 4th, 1964, and in April 1965 they had their only child Sheri.
After being discharged from the Navy in San Diego, California they came back to Fort Worth where Gene went to work for Bell Helicopter. Later in 1978 the family relocated to Burleson, Texas. Gene continued to work for Bell Helicopter for 39 years, retiring in March 2005. After retirement he spent all his time working on his street rods. His passion was to build a 32 Ford 5-window coupe, which he completed and drove around so proudly.
His pride and joy was his two granddaughters, Kimberly and Ridgely and great grandkids, Pecos, Piper and Pacen. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for them. He loved them with all his heart and soul.
Gene never met a stranger and would talk to a telephone pole if it would have talked back. He was also known to be a perfectionist in everything he did. His motto was "If you couldn't do it right, then don't do it at all".
Gene is proceeded in death by his father Robert L. Ferguson, his mother Gertrude and stepfather John B. McAdoo.
Gene survived by his wife Buddy, daughter Sheri and husband Tommy Sanders, granddaughter Kimberly and husband Tony Petrie, granddaughter Ridgley Sanders and fiance Justin Hanna, great grandchildren Pecos, Piper and Pacen Petrie and further grandchild Jayton Hanna. His sister Dee Dee Watkins, numerous other family members, and friends.
