Robert “Bob” Fisher, son of Melvin and Kathryn Fisher, was born on January 19, 1931 in Reading, PA and died on February 14, 2020 after a battle with lung cancer. He was 89 years old.
In 1955 he married Janice Gammons Fisher of Edgewood, TX. They celebrated their 64th anniversary in 2019. He is survived by his wife Janice, his daughter Lee Ann and her husband Joe Norville of Colleyville, Tx and their children, Rachel Norville of Los Angeles, CA and David of Colleyville, TX, and daughter Bobbi Grisham of Bedford, TX and her daughter Erin Grisham of NY, NY
Bob excelled in football, basketball, and baseball during his school years. He had a life long love of watching all sports.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age 18 in 1949. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired as a Major in 1969 after 20 years of service. He spent time in Houston, Morocco, Dallas, Germany, Japan, Hawaii, and San Antonio during his time in the Air Force.
After his military service, he went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M and a Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology from Virginia Tech. He spent most of his career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service which later became part of the Department of Agriculture. He retired in 1993 after a 20-year career as a wildlife biologist.
His interment of ashes will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11:15 on Friday March 6, 2020 following a committal service with Air Force Military Honors.
