Robert Nelson Gray

July 15, 1933 — March 20, 2024

Robert Nelson "Bob" Gray passed peacefully from the arms of family into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024.

Bob was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 15th, 1933.

Bob began his career in the aircraft industry with Ft. Worth Convair, then briefly with Martin Marietta in Georgia before returning to General Dynamics in Ft. Worth, ending with his retirement in 2007 from Northrop Grumman (Vought Aircraft).

Bob had a lifelong love of sports that led to a stint with the Texas Association of Sports Officials as a high school football referee, but his two true passions were the game of golf and TCU sports. Bob excelled at golf and was one of the best senior and super senior golfers in the state of Texas.

His love for TCU athletics began with his first football game at Amon G. Carter Stadium in 1963 with his two sons watching his beloved Frogs win over the Kansas Jayhawks and future Hall of Famer Gayle Sayers.

He shared his love of TCU and golf with his two sons Gary and James, son-in-law Bob Rittmueller, grandsons Ryan, Eric and Jordan, and great granddaughter Annabelle.

Bob never met a stranger, accumulating a large circle of lifelong friends. His large presence, smile and laugh could light up any room.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Raymond L. "Bud" Gray, mother Neva Mae Harris, stepmother Glennie Gray, brothers Joe and Raymond L. "Tad" Jr, sisters Audrey, Mary Dean and Janice, son James Gray, granddaughter Nicole Thomas and son-in-law Bob Rittmueller.

He is survived by his sister Kathy Lyle; son Gary Gray (wife Mary), daughter Sherian Rittmueller; grandsons Ryan Rittmueller (wife Jessica), Eric Rittmueller (wife Morgan) and Jordan Gray; bonus grandson Brandon Thomas (wife Melissa); granddaughters Jessica Robinson (wife Angel) and Allison Behymer; great grandsons Jacob Gray and Dean Rittmueller; great granddaughters Gabrielle "Gaby" Martinez, Annabelle Gray, Joslyn Gray, Rylann Behymer and Anna Rittmueller; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 27 at 1:30pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, TX.
