Robert (Bob) Hally
Robert (Bob) Hally, age 83, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Fort Worth, Texas after a brief illness. He was born in Lorain and attended Lorain High School. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1946 and served aboard the U.S.S. Saipan, CVL-48. In 1954, Bob moved to Canton, Ohio where he lived until his illness. A salesman all his life, Bob was a former employee of Gotthelf's Shoes, Balin Shoes, and Carpet Gallery. He retired from The Shaheen Floor Gallery in May 2012. He was a former active member of the Lads and Lassies Square Dance Club and an avid golfer. He was the son of the late George and Mary (Ksenich) Haly of Lorain. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Helms) in 2005, a son, David Lee Hally in 1987, stepson David Wagner, brothers Albert Haly and John Haly, and sister Mary Jane Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Celeste Zapata, and grandson, Steven Zapata, both of Fort Worth, Texas, stepdaughter Dawn Wagner of Hampstead, N. Carolina, brothers George Haly of Chicago, Illinois, Gilbert Hally of Henderson, Nevada, and William Haley of Hilton Head Island, S. Carolina, sisters Alice Farscetti and Dorothy Robbins of Lorain, and many nieces and nephews. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
