Robert “Barry” Hammontree passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 11, 1955, Barrys life was a testament to love and devotion, beginning with the day he met his wife. It was love at first sight when he saw her working as a waitress at a local restaurant. Captivated by her smile and spirit, he returned to ask her out, beginning a love story that would span decades. They married on her 18th birthday, and their bond only grew stronger over the years. This April, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that speaks to their enduring partnership and unwavering commitment.
Barry was blessed with a son, Matt, who became the light of his life and his closest confidant. Their bond was built on mutual respect, shared laughter, and countless memories. They often could be found working on cars, motorcycles and the shooting range together. In 2023, Barry’s joy grew even more when he became a grandfather to a precious granddaughter, who instantly had him wrapped around her tiny finger.
Barry will be remembered for his warmth, his quiet strength, and the way he loved his family with all his heart. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the memories his family will carry forward.
Surviving is his wife, Debra; his son, Matt Hammontree (Morgan); and his granddaughter, Vivian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister.
