Robert James Hunt, of Keller, TX, passed away December 27, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born at an early age on August 15, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York and was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Roderick Hunt and Bertha Elizabeth Hunt (nee Nachbur).
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois Dianne Hunt (nee Anderson), son Robert Hunt Jr (Monique), daughter Robyn Cheek (Don), and son David Hunt (Sergio). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: William Hunt, Rachel Hunt, James Hunt (Lillian), Ashlyn Cheek, and Ayden Cheek. He is also survived by his sister Diane Cucchiaro (Thomas) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Robert was a true American patriot, serving his country for 30 years in the United States Air Force and earning many decorations and medals. He was a command pilot and retired as a Colonel. He flew hundreds of combat missions in the F-4 Phantom during the Vietnam War and also has numerous hours flying the B-47, T-33, T-37, C-130 and later, in civilian life, the Cessna Citation and Beechcraft King Air.
His favorite role, though, was as husband, dad and grandpa/papa. His home was a place of games, fun and laughter throughout the year but especially during the holidays when the entire family would return. His favorite phrase was “I’m outta here!”, but he will never truly be out of here. His presence and spirit will remain and be felt forever by the family and friends he loved and who love him so much.
A celebration of life with full military honors will be held in June 2022.
