Bobby Jenkins was a man who was generous beyond measure to anyone in need and always responded with love and encouragement. He was a man of great character and integrity who loved God and family with all 3his heart. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember his hugs, his unconditional love, his encouraging words and his amazing generosity.
Bobby was born on April 19,1928 in Nashville, TN to Gentry and Lucille Jenkins. He and his family moved to Texas when he was twelve years old for his father to begin working at General Dynamics. He and his family attended the Riverside Church of Christ where he met the love of his life, Sybil Jane Snelson and married her on December 22, 1950.
Bobby and Jane’s love for the Lord and for each other was a beautiful example for others. Bobby and Jane were married sixty-six years when Jane passed away in 2016. Their children Jay, Julie and Jenny made their family complete and Bobby loved camping and traveling with his family bringing wonderful memories and joyful times. He also loved his church and he and his family were faithful members of the College Hill Church of Christ where Bobby served as a deacon. He and Jane were charter members of College Hill assisting in starting the church in 1963.
Bobby began his career at the Bowman Biscuit Company in Fort Worth that later became The Keebler Cookie Company in Arlington, TX. Bobby was a dedicated employee for Keebler 29 years. In later years he took a position with Mrs Baird’s Bakery and soon became Director of Human Resources.
He is survived by his son Jay and his wife Suzan, his daughter Julie Mayfield and her husband Randy, a daughter Jenny Freytag and her husband Kirk. Grandchildren Jayci Alverson, Jade Jenkins, Jori Jenkins, Jett Jenkins, Megan Conerway, Dustin Mayfield, Maci Turner, Kolby Freytag and Kassidy Freytag. Bobby and Jane were blessed with nine great-grandchildren and will have great-grandchild number ten soon.
