Robert Harold Mcglaun

April 5, 1942 — June 19, 2018

R.H. “Bobby/Skeeter” McGlaun, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018.
Bobby ran into the arms of his creator holding the hand of his bride of 49 years on one side and the hand of his God daughter on the other. After the gallant efforts of the medical team at Medical City Fort Worth, Bobby died from natural causes. Bobby lived his life being an example through actions to the many friends of the McGlaun family. He exhibited true ethics and honesty when it wasn’t always popular. He was a man to be counted on for any request and the humble receiver of many “job well done”. It was never doubted that he would hear “Job well done thy good and faithful servant” From God himself.
A carpenter by trade (like Jesus) he worked when others complained and he “finished” when others found excuses. He was tough but not mean, strong but humbled. Bobby had skin of leather and spoke with tears in his eyes when talking about his children, God children, grandchildren and his wife. He was a hero. Bobby knew the importance of heritage and spent his life providing for his family and many others. Christmas was a time for giving to those who had not, and Thanksgivings were spent with the Bransom’s giving thanks. He trained his family to “Do as I do” without saying “Do as I say”.
Bobby was a star athlete in any sport he chose, up to and including semi-professional football with the Fort Worth Braves (1968-1969). His nickname “Skeeter” derived from “looking like a mosquito” running with the football from end zone to end zone.
Bobby was a minister and a music leader in the church and never boasted for applause. He was not the “social club” person but the guy that got the phone call when something was needed (like Jesus). He believed that sacrifice was the key to a full life. He was right.
Bobby was proceeded in death by his sister Dixie Fethkenher, brother Donald McGlaun, mother Louise McGlaun Stringer and father Malcolm McGlaun. Bobby is survived by his wife Annette McGlaun, sons Mike McGlaun and Brett McGlaun, daughter Lisa Robinette, God daughter Kelly Montgomery, grandchildren Nick, Seth, Ethan, Lilly, Michael and Kelcey and a small tribe of great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life in the form of a potluck/picnic at Happy Hills Baptist Church, 7900 E. FM 917, Alvarado, Texas, Saturday June 23, 2018. Celebration will begin at 12:30 p.m. Bring a covered dish “with something in it”.
“I don’t want any preachin’ or cryin’”---Bobby McGlaun
