Robert Ward Phelps
Robert Ward Phelps (Bob), age 84, went to his heavenly home on January 7, 2022. Although he took his first and last breath in the state of Texas, Westlake, Louisiana was where Robert called home for the majority of his life. He attended Westlake High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He owned at one time his own parts business and retired as Don Shetler Ford's parts manager.
Robert leaves behind his devoted wife and closest friend of 50 years, Barbara Ann Phelps (Chance). Together they had two children, Michael Phelps (Tiffany) of Westlake and Stephanie Yearwood (Jeff) of Justin, TX. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory seven loving grandchildren: Regan, Lukaz and Chloe Phelps,Joshua and Zachary Bradley, and Mckenzie and Emmalynn Yearwood. Also siblings Bea Sargent of Louisiana, Harold Phelps of Texas, Rodger Phelps, Amory Phelps and Jan Spelbrink, all of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Gladys Phelps.
Robert will be remembered by all who knew him by his insatiable appetite for reading and learning, his talent for singing and playing the guitar and most of all, his ability to never make anyone wonder what he was thinking. He will be greatly missed.
The family will begin receiving friends at First Baptist Church of Westlake on Saturday, March 5th beginning at 1:00pm with the Celebration of Life service at 2:00pm. Rev. Randy Osborn will be officiating at the service.
