Robin Elaine Burks

May 18, 1954 — October 18, 2023

Robin Elaine Burks was born on May 18, 1954, in Detroit, MI. She was a dedicated daughter to her parents, the late Webb 'Junior' Burks and Vera 'Elaine' Burks. She was the second of six beloved siblings. She was preceded in death by her sister Valerie Carleton, brother-in-law Anthony “Tony” Martin Sr., and sister-in-law LaShauna Mustafaa. Robin's nurturing spirit led her to become a cherished mother to Tujuana 'Shawnie' Giles and Kristen Price, and a faithful wife to the late Dan Albright.

Robin graduated from Cooley High School in 1972. She attended Ferris State University and then pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She excelled at JPTA School of Practical Nursing and dedicated herself to helping others. She worked as a nurse until retirement from the Wayne County Jail in 2013.

Robin was a woman whose love and kindness knew no bounds. As a grandmother, affectionately known as “Geeka”, Robin found immeasurable joy in the presence of her grandchildren, Malik, Jayden, and Dallas. Her love for them was endless and she treasured every moment spent with them.

After retiring, Robin found new purpose and happiness in Keller, TX, where she resided to be close to her cherished grandkids. She was an immense help to her daughter and son-in-law, Derrick (who proceeded her in death).

In her leisure time, Robin indulged in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed shopping, dining out with her loved ones, and playing Pokeno and other boardgames with family and, friends. She was an amazing cook and she passed down her passion for cooking to her daughters, creating treasured holiday memories together. Especially on Thanksgiving, when Robin and her daughters would make their famous “Better than Goosey’s” dressing.

Above all, Robin loved hard. She loved her family so much. She adored her mother and deeply cherished her four sisters, Nancy Martin, Cheryl Harper, Valerie Carleton, Michelle Burks, and brother, Moses Mustafaa. She shared an unbreakable bond with her older sister, Nancy, who was not only family but also her best friend. Robin, her mom and Nancy were affectionately known as the “Golden Girls”.

Robin transitioned peacefully on October 18, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones (Shawnie, Krissy, Malik, Jayden, Dallas, Jacques and Dawn).

Robin Burks leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and strength. She is survived by her mother, Elaine “Goosey” Burks; daughters, Tujuana Giles (Scott) and Kristen Price (Jacques); stepdaughters, Danita Albright-Tucker & Dana Albright Beaurem; grandsons Malik Giles, Jayden Giles, and Dallas Price; her sisters, Nancy Martin, Cheryl Harper, Michelle Burks; brother Moses Mustafaa; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

May the memory of Robin Burks bring solace and comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her and may her legacy of love live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Following the service a repast will be at the home of Tijuana Giles. All are welcome to attend.
