Rochanne Marie Ewing

March 6, 1947 — February 6, 2023

Rochanne Marie Chase was born to Luvern Chase and Marcella in Pender, Nebraska. At a very young age she was moved to Wichita, Kansas where she was raised by her mother and what she referred to as her bonus dad, James Core. Her parents have all preceded her in death.

Her dad called her rosy red cheeks because of her natural blush. Eventually that nickname got shortened to Rosie, which stuck with her throughout her lifetime.

She was the middle child of seven. Bruce, Garry, Wanda, and Wayne have preceded her in death.

In 1962 she married Lyle Ewing and they had five children. Both Lyle and their first-born child, Debra Louise, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Erin Rachel Ward.

Rochanne is survived by her sisters, Barbara and Wynn. Her children Stacy with Mike Ward, Steven Ewing, Nikki Ewing with Steven Kinman, and Chad with Laura Ewing. Her seven grandchildren, Andy, Brandon, Jansen, Dustin, Shelby, Lane and Levi, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and her dog, Star.

Rosie was a generous, giving, and compassionate person. She'd help anyone in any circumstance with no judgment, no stipulations, no return favor except to be remembered. She loved those telephone calls where you "caught up" on each other's lives.

Rosie had a passion for culture. She loved bringing those near dead plants back to life and beautiful gardens. She loved music and dance, and was even a dance instructor at one time. She loved art and did a little painting herself. Rosie had a real niche for interior design and vision for decorating. She just enjoyed the beauty of life, including Elvis, Burt Reynolds, Dean Martin, and the American Indian!

Rosie, Mom, Grandma, or Gigi loved her family. She supported them, scolded them, encouraged them, and shared her wisdom with them. "Oh what a wicked web we weave when first we practice to deceive." "You're never too poor to afford soap and water." And her children's favorite "Life's not fair. If a rock falls on a jar the jar breaks. If a jar falls on a rock the jar still breaks. So, what's fair?". She loved being the matriarch of the family and there was no doubt she was.

Rosie's most inspirational quality was her faith. Through all her trials and tribulations, of which there were many, her faith never faltered. She talked about how blessed she was. "I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man that had no feet". She knew God would always provide for her. She prayed for us, all of us. And we know she will continue to look over us.
