Rochelle K. Sokol, 85 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in Fort Worth, TX surrounded by her children. She was born on Wednesday, June 2, 1937, in St. Elmo, IL to Mercedes and Leonard Koeberlein.
Rochelle earned her R.N. degree from the University of Illinois, and practiced in the NICU at Cardinal Glennon Hospital, for more than 20 years. Upon retirement, she pursued her hobbies of birding and her passion for travel. She was never without a book or a crossword puzzle far from reach, and she learned new crafts, such as stain glass in her later year's.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Romauld M. “Chip” Sokol and her grandchild, Paul Michael Latham. She is survived by her four children, Scott Sokol (Robin), of Palm Bay, FL; Dawn Sokol, MD. (Jack Jelenko) of New Orleans; Marc Sokol of Fort Worth, TX; Christine Latham (Roy), of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Suzie Tate of Marthasville, MO; nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn Costello, Brett Sokol, Megan, Michael, and Erin McKinley, Sunny Sokol, Allison Brandon, Thomas and Jesse Latham; six great grandchildren, Charlie and Deacon Brandon, Rogan and Ryker Latham, Na’vi Sokol and Neytiri Folkes, as well as numerous extended family members and loved ones.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make a donation in her memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
