Rogelio Puente

July 25, 1956 — December 14, 2020

Rogelio Puente, or as he was more affectionately known to most, Roy, was born July 25, 1956 to Roque and Juanita Puente in Muleshoe, Texas. Roy met and married the love of his life Debbie Hernandez of Friona, Texas on February 14, 1975. Roy went on to attend Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelor's degree and later earned his Master's degree in Social Work at the University of Texas in Arlington. He is survived by his
three children Joshua Puente of Dallas, TX, Hanna Puente of Dalhart, TX, and Leslie Martinez of Fort Worth, TX; eight grandchildren, Josheph, Arianna, Brooklyn, Xavier, Erika, Joe Angel, Avriey, and Hailey; and numerous people, now adults, whom called him dad including, Robert Halberg and Freddie Little whom were fostered and cared for by the family. Roy is also survived by two brothers, Joe Puente of Lubbock, TX and Jeremias Puente of Hale Center, TX and two sisters, Merced Mendoza of El Paso, TX and Lydia Vega of Farwell, TX. While he is leaving many behind for a time, Roy is reuniting with just as many in heaven, including his parents, four brothers, one sister, a niece, but most important to him he is reuniting with his beloved bride, Debbie.

Roy lived a life that some would envy; not because he had priceless objects and valuables, but because he viewed his family and friends as priceless and valuable. Roy spent his life serving others and like a true servant, never expected anything in return. Roy was never one to shy away from giving to those in need, even when he had little. If you were ever in need of prayer, Roy was there to lift you up to God and would continue praying for you. He also wanted to ensure that you knew that Jesus loved you and nothing you had done in your life was too big to take to Jesus. He did not base his faith on anyone else’s experiences, but rather his faith was built up by his own experiences in life.

Roy was a man who loved deeply especially when it came to his wife Debbie. Family meant so much to him from his oldest child to the youngest grandchild and never let an opportunity to love on them pass by. Many people will dearly miss this man of God who inspired so many throughout his life. Though he will be missed on earth his family rests peacefully on the blessed assurance of his salvation through Jesus Christ.

With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis affecting the country, a memorial service has yet to be scheduled. The family has decided to wait until it is safe for family and friends to travel and gather for a memorial. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity our father championed.
