Ron was born on June 14, 1946, to Dorothy and Johnny Deaton, in Napa, California. He spent a happy adventurous childhood with his parents, brothers and cousins in Levelland and Ropesville, Texas. He moved to Haskell, Oklahoma, then to Coweta. He graduated from Coweta High School in 1964, attended Connors State College, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1968 with a business degree in Finance. Ron joined the U.S. Air Force and was part of the Oklahoma Air National Guard from 1968 – 78. He married, worked hard at both farming and selling Burroughs accounting and business equipment. Divorced in 1988, Ron moved to Ft. Worth, TX, and in 1989 and began his 14-year career with American Airlines and Sabre, installing reservation and accounting systems across the U.S. and Canada. He remarried in 1992. After being retired from Sabre in 2003, Ron briefly did home inspections, then began his dream job of working with his brother, a group of very special Sales guys, and school coaches across U.S. to design unique high school and college sports graphics touting each team. His creative designs will live on in the halls of many schools for years to come.
Ron was blessed with many lifelong friends and a large family that he loved very much. His life was all about working and providing for his family. He loved the simple pleasures – being at home with his family and dogs, he enjoyed fishing, making his yard look nice, and loved all college football especially
O U Football - BOOMER SOONER, he liked Baseball (never gave up on the Texas Rangers), was an avid history buff, loved country music, Tina Turner and Florence and the Machine. He never met a peach cobbler or chocolate pie he didn’t try! He lived every day by doing the best he could for others and always treating everyone as he would wish to be treated. He was faithful to God, his family and friends, and left telling us that he lived one very blessed life and was leaving without regret. His kindness, integrity, hard-work ethic and sense of humor will be remembered by many.
Those left behind include his wife of 27 years, Melissa Deaton, his daughters Mackenzie Deaton, Joi Kilgore (Marty), his son Brady Deaton, 10 much-loved grandchildren, his brother Don Deaton (Earlene), and many dearly loved cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Johnny Deaton, his grandparents Roy and Lorene Evans, and his dear daughter Tiffany Roberts (Kevin).
Ron wished for a special note of thanks to be given to his doctor, nurses and the entire team of people at The CenterTX, The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, as their truly compassionate care helped Ron and our family through his journey with grace.
