RONALD CHARLES JUNGE
OCTOBER 29, 1941 – JUNE 30, 2019
Ron Junge, a Raconteur and a true character, was born October 29, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa. He went to heaven at 5:10pm from Grapevine, Texas at the age of 77.

Ron’s love for golf began when he started caddying at the Clinton Country Club in Clinton, Iowa when he was just 9 years old! Forgiveness is his for lying about his age so early in life.

His uncanny golf ability earned him a full scholarship to the University of Wisconsin after winning the Iowa State Golf Championship. It was his ticket to an education and a wonderful life. He then transferred to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, earning a Bachelors of Science Degree in Economics. He always liked to say he had official B.S.

Following graduation, he landed his first job with IBM, but it was not rewarding for him as GOLF WAS IN HIS BLOOD. Ron Moved to Dallas, Texas in 1969-70 when he successfully applied for the assistant pro position at Royal Oaks Country Club.

Don January the legendary golfer was a mentor to Ron and ensured Ron became the Head Pro a mere two years later.

This provided an opportunity to socialize and confer with the proverbial who’s who in golf and film. Ron played with the likes of Tom Landry, Mickey Rooney, Mickey Mantle, Lee Trevino and Ben Hogan to name a few... all this for the little boy from Clinton, Iowa! How many of us during our daily routine hear someone like Tom Landry approach and say “hey Pro wanna go shoot 9”...Coach Landry always walked carrying his own bag, while Ron played along in the golf cart after always asking “Coach” if he could at least haul his clubs for him.

After leaving Royal Oaks Country Club for a stockbroker position in Houston, Ron met his beloved, Marci Mayer, in 1987. They fell in love and wed on July 3, 1993 in Tomball, Texas under a giant oak tree at a fantastic potluck wedding filled with love and fun. Four years later in 1997, Ron and Marci moved to Grapevine, Texas, a place dear to their hearts. They often commented that God brought them here, even though Marci initially left Houston kicking and screaming.

In Grapevine, Ron became a highly successful automobile sales manger and also traveled the country with AON Corporation training automobile dealership financial professionals.

While the car and insurance business consumed much of his time, when he got the chance, he headed for the fairway and the 19th hole where he touched many lives. His counsel reached far beyond the golf course. Ron had a natural gift as he was adept at listening to people’s wants, fears, and desires. He advised them on everything from finance to romance and the State of the Union.

And many he did touch with his unique gift of reading people, listening to their stories and offering useful lessons from the heart. People lucky enough to be in Ron Junge’s sphere were blessed with thoughtful, pragmatic advice, laughter, and tall tales from a life well lived.

His clubs remain in the trunk of his car to this day, ready to birdie the Greens in heaven.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Elsie Junge, and his younger sister Nancy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Marci Junge, six children, twelve grandchildren, one great granddaughter and his older brother Ed Junge, along with a multitude of friends, clients, students and people he probably never knew how much he helped.

He was a servant of Jesus Christ exemplified by donating his body to the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center and serving in leadership at Living Word Lutheran Church. He will be missed, but fondly remembered. Our loss is overcome by the gratitude for having known and loved him.

A service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Living Word Lutheran Church located at 2031 W Northwest Hwy, Grapevine, Texas with Pastor’s David Eibel and Kari Malinak officiating. Soloist Stacy Schriever and Pianist Denise Eibel will perform Amazing Grace.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Living Word Lutheran Church in Grapevine, or a charity of your choosing in his memory.
