Ronny Dean Becknal was born on January 12, 1959 in Arlington, TX to Willie Paul “Bud” Becknal and Flora Mae Havins Becknal. Ronny went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 2, 2021 in Fort Worth. He went through the Arlington school system and graduated in 1977 from Lamar High School. He then attended the University of Texas at Arlington studying architecture. In the spring of 1980, Ronny met the love of his life and future wife Pam Spears while working at Six Flags over Texas. Ronny and Pam married in June of 1981 in Fort Worth and had three beautiful children together.
Ronny was a home body and he loved a good Hallmark movie, cooking and baking for his family, painting wood Christmas ornaments for craft shows, spending time with his family, and listening to Alexa play Christmas music all through the year. Ronny gave the best hugs, and was like a big ole’ teddy bear!
Through his career, Ronny worked in Restaurant management and Dental sales and service. He held many part-time jobs that included being a mall Santa, Delivering newspapers, Operating a fork –lift for a freight warehouse, Make-ready’s for rental cars, and for the last three years he worked as a cashier for Kroger in northwest Keller. Ronny was a people person and loved to talk to anyone and everyone.
The Becknal’s are members of NorthWood Church in Keller. They also volunteered as a family for a number of years for the Birdville ISD schools where their children went to school. The family received from the Birdville ISD Council of PTAs in 2003 the first ever “Big Heart Award” for their service to the district.
Ronny was preceded in death by both his parents; brother, Paul Becknal; and mother-in-law, Loretta Spears.
He is survived by his wife of 39 ½ years, Pam Becknal; son, Matthew Becknal; daughters, Kristin Becknal and Natalie Becknal; sister, Gaye Wilson; brother, Mike Becknal; father-in-law, Gerald Spears; godson, Blake Gentry; and many other friends and family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 10 am at the Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. Due to COVID guidelines, seating will be limited.
